Villa Roccabianca is a seven-nineteenth-century artifact, with a courtyard layout, located between the municipalities of Marineo and Bolognetta. Our activity has already involved the historical artifact, object of architectural restoration and functionalization for receptive use. For this property the procedure for the declaration of cultural interest has been started but not yet concluded. The urban plan already recognizes its historical and artistic interest, which is why it has a form of protection that provides for the possibility of operating with extensions without these interfering with the pre-existence, giving prescriptions that require the definition of a single project and when functional extensions are needed these must be placed at least 20 meters from the existing structures.

In compliance with these imposed constraints, the project provides for the arrangement of the outer space by defining two open spaces that generate two more “courts” in sequence to that of Villa Roccabianca, the first with two opposite wings: a contemporary one formed by the front of entrance to the historic building. The new building artifact, detached from the preexistence, is organized to determine another courtyard, repeating the same settlement logic as the main building, thus revisiting the typological theme of the court building.
